Berry Cacao Smoothie

This delicious, nutrient-rich berry cacao smoothie is high in antioxidants, and hormone balancing healthy fats, as well as adaptogens. Did you know that cacao contains 40 times more antioxidants than blueberries? And cacao is also a good source of iron, magnesium and calcium, among other vitamins and minerals.

Hemp protein powder contains at least 20 amino acids (including the 9 essential amino acids) and it is a good source of essential fatty acids, omega 3 and omega 6.

Maca is another great source of amino acids (or protein), fibre, vitamin C, copper and iron. Great for balancing female hormones.

A perfectly nutritious start for these summer mornings.

Small handful of frozen mixed berries

1/3 banana, frozen (optional)

1 cup unsweetened almond milk

1 heaped teaspoonn raw cacoa powder

1 heaped teaspoon hemp protein powder

2 tsp maca powder

1 tbsp ground flaxseed

¼ avocado

Place all ingredients in the nutribullet (or similar) and a blend for about 1

Minute or until smooth.

Can decorate with berries, cacao nibs and flaked coconut (if desired)
